Plumbers, Florida

What Should I Consider when Hiring a Florida Plumber?

On most cases, when a person hires a plumber, it is an emergency. If you are lucky enough to have the luxury of a little time, allow more than one plumber to give you a price. But the best solution is to research and find a plumber before you need one. Realize that one mistake can result in thousands of dollars in damage - is the plumber experienced with the specific work required to solve your problem?

Ask for referrals and ask questions. What specifically does the warranty cover? Does the plumbing company have heavy duty equipment leak detectors, pipeline cameras, rebar locators, plumbing augurs, heavy duty snakes, etc.? Check for applicable licensing see below. Will estimate include cost of pulling permit?

What is the plumbing contractors experience with the relevant problem? If your problem is one of the following, make sure that he has experience - toilet leaks, faucet leaks, video camera leak detection, pressure relief valves, electric snakes, excavation, clogged drains, water pressure problems, grease traps, Jacuzzis, garbage disposals, backflow preventers, high-efficiency toilets, sump pumps, gas and LP lines, pumps, septic tanks and drain fields or sewer backup, bathroom remodeling.

Should I Hire only a Florida Plumber that is Licensed & Insured?

Don't hire an amateur. In Florida, hiring an unlicensed or uninsured plumbing contractor can result in denial of insurance claims for injury or property insurance. An inspector can sometimes require demolition of unpermitted work. If you enter into a contract with an unlicensed plumber and that plumber does not fulfill, you may not be able to win a lawsuit because the contract could possibly be deemed illegal.

Plumbers can be licensed with Florida DBPR as either certified to do business anywhere in Florida or registered to work only in the cities or counties where the plumber holds a certificate of competency.
